¶ 1 In February 1989, Valerie Gunnell, and her five-year-old and nine-month-old daughters were beaten to death in their Yuma apartment. After a jury convicted Alvie Kiles of three counts of first degree murder and two counts of child abuse, the trial judge sentenced Kiles to death for each murder. The convictions and Kiles' sentences were affirmed on direct appeal...
