Appellant James Clayton Solomon was convicted on July 10, 2008, by a Washington County jury on charges of rape and failure to appear. He was sentenced as an habitual offender and received thirty-five years' imprisonment for the rape conviction and fifteen years' imprisonment for his conviction on the failure-to-appear charge.
