In 2005, following a trial to the court, appellant Joseph H. Bell was found guilty of rape and sentenced to 240 months' imprisonment in the Arkansas Department of Correction. The Arkansas Court of Appeals affirmed the judgment and granted appellant's attorney's motion to withdraw on a no-merit brief. Bell v.
