Jerome Corvisky Perry was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana in the first degree, a violation of § 13A-12-213, Ala.Code 1975. Perry filed a pretrial motion to suppress the evidence seized from him—plastic bags filled with marijuana—by law-enforcement officials during a traffic stop carried out at a driver's license checkpoint.
