Bobby Long had been employed by Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, Inc. ("Goodyear"), since 1993; he began working at Goodyear's Gadsden plant in October 2002. On July 31, 2006, while performing his assigned work as a second-stage tire builder, Long suffered a strain to his left knee.
