The genesis of this case is a motor-vehicle accident that occurred on county road 88 in Lauderdale County. On January 11, 2003, Patricia J. Holt and Cori Nicole Howard, Holt's granddaughter, were traveling to Lexington Elementary School in a vehicle that Holt was driving.
