Byron M. Kalmakoff was convicted of raping and murdering a young woman in Pilot Point. At his trial, the State relied on statements that Kalmakoff made to the state troopers who came to Pilot Point to investigate the homicide. In this appeal, Kalmakoff argues that the statements introduced at his trial were the tainted fruit of violations of Kalmakoff's Miranda rights.2 For the reasons...
