When a trial court rules on a motion to continue, "[t]he chief consideration is whether granting or denying a continuance will further substantial justice."1 In this appeal, Respondent mother argues that the trial court abused its discretion by denying a motion to continue a hearing addressing the termination of parental rights on the grounds that the parent was not present.
