Justice BIRKETT delivered the judgment of the court, with opinion.

¶ 1 Respondent, Lloyd A. Smith, appeals from an order of the trial court granting petitioner Sharyl L. Smith's petition for dissolution of marriage. On appeal, Lloyd contends that the trial court erred in granting him maintenance of only $200 per month for two years. On cross-appeal, Sharyl argues that the trial court erred in:
