Plaintiff Jamie Lee Norton (hereinafter plaintiff) gave birth to her second child at defendant Nathan Littauer Hospital and Nursing Home. Defendant Patricia Nguyen, an obstetrician employed by the hospital, performed the delivery. During the hospital stay, defendant Deborah Kaufman, another obstetrician employed by the hospital, also provided care for plaintiff.
