On July 30, 2007, the Calhoun County Department of Human Resources ("DHR") filed a petition with the Calhoun Juvenile Court ("the trial court"), alleging that C.L.T. ("the child") was a dependent child and requesting that DHR be granted custody of the child. At that time, the child was in the custody of his maternal grandmother, A.L.D.
