The defendant, Gilberto Torres, was convicted by a Superior Court jury of distribution of a class A substance, see G. L. c. 94C, § 32(b), and commission of a drug offense in a school zone, see G. L. c. 94C, § 32J. He thereafter pleaded guilty to a subsequent offender portion of the distribution charge.
