OPINION

CHARLES KREGER, Justice.

A jury convicted Elton Larrie Stafford of murdering his wife of thirty-one years, Marygene, by striking her "in the head with a stone." The jury further assessed Stafford's punishment at confinement in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Correctional Institutions Division, for a term of seventy-five years, and fined Stafford in the amount of $10,000.
