In the underlying action, Angela Friley, the widow of William Friley ("decedent"), filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Linda Hampton and Union Electrie Company d/b/a/ Ameren UE ("Ameren") after her husband was fatally injured while replacing Ameren transmission lines.
