After the mother's death, the great aunt of the decedent's daughter sued for custody of the 8-year-old child. The child's father was an absentee, and plaintiff petitioned for a curator ad hoc to represent him. After a brief hearing at which only plaintiff appeared, the trial court awarded temporary custody of the child to the plaintiff.
