In this appeal from the denial of an amended petition for a writ of habeas corpus, the petitioner contends that he is entitled to a new trial because of the ineffectiveness of the legal assistance that he received from his trial counsel. In addition to the claims of ineffective assistance that he raised specifically in the habeas proceedings, he asks us to review additional claims on which the habeas court did not rule.
