The defendant, Kirby Matthew, Jr., was charged by bill of indictment with second degree murder, a violation of La.R.S. 14:30.1, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a violation of La.R.S. 14:68.4. He pled guilty to the amended charges of manslaughter, a violation of La.R.S. 14:31, and aggravated battery, a violation of La.R.S. 14:34.1
