¶ 1. This case arose when Brandy Lane (Lane), who was in a single motor vehicle accident, gave premature birth to her son, Austin, who was born with severe brain injuries. Lane subsequently filed suit on her son's behalf in the Circuit Court of Madison County against several defendants, including her obstetrician, Dr. William Bush, and the OB-GYN Clinic of Jackson (Clinic).
