The defendants were charged in a District Court with receiving stolen property valued at $250 or more. See G. L. c. 266, § 60. Before trial, they filed a joint motion to suppress evidence seized at their home and searched without a warrant, including the contents of a black suitcase found in the defendants' shared apartment.
