This appeal concerns the right of a criminal alien who was ordered removed before the enactment of the REAL ID Act of 2005 to obtain judicial review of his removal order after the Act became effective on May 11, 2005. Before the REAL ID Act, "criminal aliens" could obtain judicial review only through a habeas corpus petition filed with the district court. After the Act, these aliens — like all aliens — may obtain judicial review...
