Charles Edward, Jr., was indicted on August 30, 2006, for second degree murder, a violation of La.R.S. 14:30.1. A jury trial commenced on February 5, 2007. However, on February 6, 2007, Defendant pled guilty to the amended offense of manslaughter, a violation of La.R.S. 14:31. The trial court ordered a pre-sentence investigation report, and following a hearing held on May 21, 2007, sentenced Defendant to thirty years imprisonment at hard labor. Defendant...
