A jury found Mary Therese Karafiat guilty of following too closely, failure to maintain lane, driving under the influence of alcohol to the extent she was a less safe driver, and serious injury by vehicle. Karafiat was convicted and sentenced solely for serious injury by vehicle after the court merged the other charges.
