In February 2006, a jury found defendant, Ammon Gray, guilty of first degree murder (720 ILCS 5/9-1(a)(3) (West 2004)), armed robbery (720 ILCS 5/18-2(a)(1) (West 2004)), and home invasion (720 ILCS 5/12-11(a)(2) (West 2004)). The State later tried a codefendant, Marlon Williams, in a separate trial. As to the charge of first degree murder in particular, defendant was convicted on an accountability
