In 2001, the defendant, Willie Lee Coleman, was convicted of two counts of possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance (720 ILCS 570/401(a)(1)(A), (d) (West 2000)). He was sentenced to concurrent terms of 36 and 7 years' imprisonment, court costs, and a drug assessment of $3,500. On direct appeal, this court affirmed the defendant's conviction and sentence.
