¶ 1 A statute of limitations may be equitably tolled where there is evidence of "`bad faith, deception, or false assurances by the defendant, and the exercise of diligence by the plaintiff.'"1 Such tolling may be appropriate "`when it would effectuate: 1) the policies underlying the statute, and 2) the purposes underlying the statute of limitations.'"2
