The defendant, Kevin Bernard Morris, was charged by bill of information with possession with intent to distribute a Schedule II controlled dangerous substance, cocaine, a violation of LSA-R.S. 40:967. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to serve seven and one-half years imprisonment at hard labor, the first two years to be served without benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence.
