On 22 February 2006, the defendant, Kia Stewart ("Stewart"), was indicted for the second degree murder of Bryant Craig ("Craig"), a violation of La. R.S. 14:30.1. Stewart entered a plea of not guilty at his arraignment on 26 April 2006, during which time his competency became an issue. The trial court ordered a competency hearing, which was held on 26 September 2006; he was found competent to proceed. On the same date, Stewart filed discovery...
