Brandon H. Charles was arrested as he fled a house where he had been selling cocaine. After being given Miranda warnings, he was interviewed by a Milwaukee police detective. He agreed to provide information to the detective about his supplier in exchange for what he hoped would be favorable consideration from the local district attorney. Unfortunately for Charles, he wound up in federal rather than state court, where the state prosecutor...
