The State charged Amanda Griffey with the Class B misdemeanor of driving while intoxicated (DWI). See Tex. Penal Code Ann. § 49.04(a) (West 2003). Griffey filed a pretrial motion to suppress, contending that the evidence of the offense was discovered during an improper detention.
