Sergeant Thomas Hongslo was patrolling in the area of I-35 and 95th Street in Johnson County at 11:45 p.m. He was a 14-year veteran of the police force with experience and training in drug intervention, including training at the Operation Pipeline School conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration, as well as two street narcotics schools.
