Defendant John Michael Beames was charged with one count of first degree murder (Pen.Code, § 187, subd. (a)),1 one count of torture (§ 206), and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon (§ 12021, subd. (a)). He entered a plea of guilty on the firearm possession count. He also admitted allegations in the murder and the torture counts that he had been previously convicted of at least two felonies in California...
