Appellant, James Asa Wynkoop, pleaded guilty, without an agreed punishment recommendation from the State, to the second-degree-felony offense of sexual assault of a child. See TEX. PEN.CODE ANN. § 22.011(a)(2)(A) (Vernon Supp.2006). After a pre-sentence investigation and hearing, the trial court found appellant guilty and assessed his punishment at 14 years in prison.
