The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), upon receiving notice that Russell Ben Jones had been charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI), suspended Jones's concealed handgun license. The issue of the suspension was presented to a Lamar County justice of the peace court and, after a hearing, the justice court ruled in favor of the DPS, sustaining the suspension.
