A jury found appellant Manuel Cortez guilty of murder and assessed his punishment at ninety-nine years' imprisonment. See Tex. Penal Code Ann. § 19.02 (West 2003). In four points of error, appellant contends that the trial court erred by admitting in evidence statements he made to police officers and his mother that he argues were unlawfully obtained.
