The defendant was convicted in 1976 of, among other things, kidnapping in the first degree (see Penal Law § 135.25 [1]). There was no sexual misconduct involved in his offense. The question presented on this appeal is whether the defendant is subject to the requirements of the Sex Offender Registration Act (see Correction Law § 168 et seq. [hereinafter SORA]) and, if so, whether those requirements...
