While hospitalized at the New England Medical Center and dying from cancer, Douglas Cannon sought to change the beneficiary designation on a policy of life insurance with Primerica Life Insurance Company (Primerica) that named his estranged wife, Marie Cannon, as sole beneficiary. Because he and Marie were engaged in divorce proceedings and subject to a restraining order prohibiting such changes, Douglas sought permission from the Probate and Family Court...
