This is an appeal from a judgment rendered in a case alleging an insurer's bad-faith failure to settle a claim, thereby exposing its insured to a judgment in excess of the insurance policy liability limit. Judgment was entered in favor of appellee, Elijah Arvie, and against appellant, Safeway Insurance Company of Louisiana ("Safeway"), with damages awarded in the amount of the excess judgment plus $2,000.00 in penalties.
