The defendant, Carlton Brooks, was charged by grand jury indictment with two counts of second degree murder, violations of LSA-R.S. 14:30.1. After a jury trial, the defendant was found guilty as charged. The defendant's motion for post-verdict judgment of acquittal or modification of verdict was denied. The district court imposed the mandatory sentence of life imprisonment at hard labor without benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence...
