Defendant, Felton D. LaGarde, was indicted and charged with second degree murder in violation of LSA-R.S. 14:30.1 and he pled not guilty.1 The case was tried before a 12-person jury which unanimously found defendant guilty as charged. Defendant filed a motion for new trial that was denied on February 9, 2007. On that same date, the trial court sentenced defendant to life imprisonment without benefit of parole...
