Following a jury trial, defendant, Lewis E. Kuhns, was convicted of criminal damage to property under $300 in value (720 ILCS 5/21-1(a) (West 2004)), and sentenced to 12 months of conditional discharge, 150 hours of community service, and a $100 fine. On appeal, defendant contends that (1) he was denied the effective assistance of trial counsel, and (2) he is entitled to a $10 credit toward his fine for the time...
