Defendant Derrick Todd Lee was charged by grand jury indictment with the first degree murder of Geralyn Barr DeSoto, a violation of LSA-R.S. 14:30. The state amended the indictment to charge defendant with second degree murder, a violation of LSA-R.S. 14:30.1. The defendant pled not guilty.
