This case came before the Supreme Court on May 14, 2007, on appeal by Rhode Island Council 94, A.F.S.C.M.E., AFL-CIO, Local 2409 (Council 94 or union), from a Superior Court order granting a motion to vacate an arbitration award in Council 94's favor, which motion was filed by the State of Rhode Island (state). Council 94 argues that the Superior Court justice erred in his interpretation of the statutory language...
