After a jury trial in the Tate County Circuit Court, Derrick Brown was found guilty of the sale of a controlled substance, cocaine, in violation of Mississippi Code Annotated section § 41-29-139(a)(1) (Rev. 2005). The trial judge sentenced Brown to a term of fifteen years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, with six years suspended pending his future good...
