Defendant, Scott English, was convicted of first degree felony murder and aggravated battery of a child in 1996. In 1999, he filed a postconviction petition. He later filed a motion to voluntarily dismiss the petition, which the trial court granted. In 2004, defendant filed another postconviction petition.
