Defendant Romelle Jones was convicted of first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder (720 ILCS 5/9-1(a)(1) (West 2006)) after a jury trial. He was sentenced to 30 years in prison for first-degree murder and 10 consecutive years for attempted first-degree murder.
