The State of Louisiana, the appellant herein, filed a bill of information charging the defendant, Ellery C. Jones, with one count of obstruction of justice, a violation of La. R.S. 14:130.1.1 Following a trial, the jury returned a responsive verdict of guilty of attempted obstruction of justice. The defendant subsequently filed a motion for a new trial and a motion for a post verdict
