The defendant, Alan Fowlkes, pleaded guilty under the Alford doctrine1 to assault in the second degree in violation of General Statutes § 53a-60. The trial court rendered judgment of conviction and sentenced the defendant to a term of five years incarceration, execution suspended after twenty months, and three years of probation.
