Thomas Marcus Carrington claims that the City of Des Moines discriminated against him because of his race while he was a City employee. See IOWA CODE § 216.6(1)(a); 42 U.S.C. §§ 1981, 1983, 2000e-2(a)(1). Carrington also contends he was reprimanded, and ultimately fired, for opposing this discrimination.
