Shirl Roberson, who suffers from bipolar disorder, applied for social security disability insurance benefits and supplemental security income. After the Social Security Administration (SSA) denied her benefits initially, she received a hearing before an administrative law judge (ALJ), who concluded that she was not disabled and denied her claim. The Appeals Council denied review, and so the ALJ's decision became the final decision of the SSA...
