Defendant, Bobby Neal Whalen, was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, a violation of La. R.S. 14:95.1. Following a jury trial, Defendant was convicted of the responsive verdict of attempted possession and was sentenced to 6 1/2 years at hard labor without benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence. Defendant appeals his conviction and sentence. For the reasons stated herein, Defendant's conviction and sentence are affirmed...
